Community fireworks light up the Ag grounds

Fireworks that were scheduled for July 1st were postponed by the organizer to July 2nd where the community was invited to the Ag Grounds for the twenty seven minute display.
Posting on his personal Facebook page, the Mayor of The Pas Herb Jaques commented that Canada Day would be a time for reflection.
This matches efforts across Canada to have July 1st as a day of reflection rather than celebration following the continued discovery of children at Residential School sights across the county. Communities across Canada chose to reflect on Canada’s colonial history with Indigenous people and the harm that was inflicted in the creation of the country.
The display, created by Ed Demchinski, was held at the Ag Grounds to allow for social distancing and ample space for the show. Hundreds of people came out to watch the display which ended just after midnight.
