Pull out your bibs and your tools and get crackin’ for another night of Atlantic cuisine and entertainment with the upcoming Lobsterfest, hosted by the Rotary Club of The Pas (RCTP) at the Metis Hall Saturday Nov. 23. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. for cocktails.
“It’s a lot of fun,” said volunteer organizer Julia McKay.
The delicious dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m.. However, if lobster isn’t your thing don’t fret because the RCTP is also offering a chicken dinner as an alternative.
For the entertainment portion of the evening, the RCTP are bringing in DJ Derek4Real – who enjoys performing a variety of music including hits from today – to have everyone ending the night on the dance floor.
“Everyone eats so much that they need to work it off after,” said McKay.
As always, the community has really come together to contribute to a great cause and funds from ticket sales and the silent auction are going to the RCTP for their various donations throughout the community.
“It will go to support projects around the community,” said McKay. “Such as, the outdoor arena that we’ve been working on, the handi-van that we helped provide money for, cadets, breakfast programs in schools.
“We help with a whole variety of things. People come and ask for donations and we try to accommodate the best that we can depending on our fundraising.”
This is the 37th year for the RCTP Lobsterfest and what started out as a mid-sized, fundraising event for them has turned into a mainstay on the fall calendar.
“We instituted last year a table decorating contest,” said McKay. “You can decorate your table in any theme you want and we hand out prizes.”
This event feeds approximately 300 guests, has upwards of 50 volunteers and is a wildly busy and highly entertaining evening for everyone.
“There will be no drinking and driving,” said McKay, noting that designated drivers have been arranged for the evening. “You can indulge and someone will get you home safely.”
Tickets for the evening of amazing food and great entertainment are just $50 for one lobster or chicken dinner or $70 for a two lobster dinner. One ticket is issued per person and can be purchased from any Rotarian or from Wescana Inn, Michael's Corner Store, Great North Chevrolet Buick GMC Ltd., Northland Ford-The Pas, MB, Paperworks Plus and Berscheid Meats.
