Missing person report is filed for local Kendara Ballantyne

The RCMP has issued a missing person’s report for a resident of The Pas.
Eighteen-year-old Kendara Ballantyne was reported missing to police on July 26th, according to a statement released by the RCMP. The RCMP officially released a request for the public’s help in finding Ballantyne August 1st.
The RCMP stated Ballantyne was last reported seen on July 18th at 5:00 p.m. walking down Cathedral Avenue. Family who have posted on Ballantyne’s disappearance stated she was seen near the Kelsey Estates.
Ballantyne is described as five feet tall and weighing 135 pounds, with brown eyes and short black hair. She was last seen wearing black sweat pants, a black shirt and wearing shoes.
It is believed Ballantyne may be in Winnipeg.
The Bear Clan was doing a patrol for Ballantyne Tuesday night and had issued a public call for volunteers to join them. Information and photos of Ballantyne had been shared hundreds of times locally in recent days meanwhile.
When contacted, an RCMP spokesperson confirmed a report of Ballantyne being missing was filed by family members at 2:45 p.m. on July 26th. The delay in issuing a public notification was due to a missing person investigation being undertaken and investigator closing remaining avenues prior to a media release being issued.
A request for information on if there is criteria for when RCMP issues a missing person report and call for public help and if so what are those criteria are was not responded to as of press time.
The RCMP are asking anyone with information to call The Pas RCMP at 204-627-6200, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.
