Local business in top three for FEX award

This week the Family Enterprise Xchange (FEX) an association of business families named their three finalists for the Manitoba Family Enterprise of the Year. The first listed was Falcon Trails Resort in Whiteshell Provincial Park, the second was Luxe Furniture Company based in Winnipeg, and the one company in northern Manitoba is The Pas’ Twin Motors.
The Manitoba Family Enterprise of the Year Award recognizes the significant achievements made by family businesses, which inspire though their success in the family business.
The requirements to be a part of this award include the nominee must be Canadian, spanning more than one generation, and has more than one family member as an employee.
Twin Motors, according to a release by FEX, was originally purchased by Gordon Haukaas in 1987, in what initially started as one family owned business expanded to five different vehicle dealerships, U-Drive Car Rentals and an independent collision repair centre spanning the four communities of The Pas, Flin Flon, Thompson and Dauphin. The businesses are operated by Gordon, his wife Karen and their three children.
Spanning hundreds of miles, two generations and a large number of employees, Twin Motors and other businesses managed by the Haukaas family have a chance to be recognized publically for their dedication to the different businesses.
Request for comment was made to Murray Haukaas, operator of Twin Motors in The Pas and son of Gordon, but messages were not returned as of press time.
