School repeats request to slow down after child hit by vehicle

It was late in the day on Friday October 8th when the call came in 3:56 P.M. about a motor vehicle collision at the junction of 6th Street East and Smith Avenue. Traveling to scene, the RCMP and ambulance had already arrived and the beacon lights were on.
School has just let out and a child was attempting to cross at the cross walk when they were clipped by a vehicle. This is a very busy time of day all over town. People are getting off work, it was Thanksgiving weekend but citizens need to slow down for the safety of our children.
Trevor Lane, school principal of MBCI, attended scene, “I was just about to go home when the call came in and my heart dropped”. Thankfully after getting assessed by the EMS crew, the child was released.
