Fire department flooding area for skate path

The Pas Fire Department is actively flooding an area behind Roy H. Johnston arena for a skating path. While the outdoor skating rink has been flooded, the goal is to make a trail from the rink to the new skating path. Warmer winter weather has made the process difficult but the continual flooding helps fill in the cracks and cover the gravel underneath.
Fire Chief Randy Manych is optimistic for colder overnight lows next week to finish the project. The area is nearing completion and Manych expects they will only have to flood to level off area with just a hose very soon.
