New emergency alert system should provide some improvements locally

The province announced earlier this month a planned $380-million overhaul of the emergency paging system used to alert emergency services to a situation requiring their attendance.
The current system, Fleetnet, is viewed as outdated and will be modernized to ensure it is now up to date the current technology and able to better meet the needs of emergency personnel.
“Ensuring the safety of Manitobans is our duty,” said Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister.
