OCN Blizzard pick eight players in Bantam draft

This Sunday was the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) Bantam Draft was held down in Winnipeg, as the various teams of the MJHL make bids for the bantam players they want to enlist for upcoming seasons.
The OCN Blizzard for their first round draft pick acquired forward Trentyn Crane from Morden, who has played with the Pembina Valley Hawks Bantam AAA team for the previous two seasons, the ’17-18 season in particular Crane excelled at, earning 70 points in 36 games, scoring 46 goals and 24 assists.
Another forward was chosen in the second round, forward Owen Weihs from the Rink Hockey Academy Nationals Bantam Prep #33 team, from Winnipeg. Last season Weihs got 39 points in 30 games, scoring 21 goals and 18 assists.
In the third round OCN picked two players, first was defenceman Aidan Brook from Roblin and from the Parkland Rangers on a pick OCN got via the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. This previous season Brook picked up 21 points in 36 games, scoring three goals along with 28 assists. The teams second third round draft pick was Winnipeg forward Matt Wisener from Rink Hockey Academy Nationals Bantam Prep #12 team. Wisener had 23 points in 30 games last season, scoring five goals and 18 assists.
OCN in the fourth round got two more players, first acquiring defenceman Logan Clarke via a pick acquired from the Winnipeg Blues. Clarke played this year with the Winnipeg Hawks and in 28 games scored seven goals and 14 assists, totalling up to 21 points in total. Later on that round OCN got forward Colby Bear from Peguis, who previously played with the Interlake Lightning last season, getting 36 points in 36 games, with 16 goals and 20 assists.
In round five OCN got yet another Hockey Academy prospect, forward Mike Svenson from Ile Des Chenes. Svenson last season earned 28 points in 30 games, scoring 16 goals and 12 assists.
Lastly, in round six the Blizzard acquired forward Darryl Jr. Taylor-Luke, another player from the Parkland Rangers, from Swan River. Taylor-Luke last season got 35 points in 34 games, scoring 20 goals and 15 assists.
This year’s MJHL Bantam Draft saw OCN acquire eight players in the six rounds, with six forwards and two defencemen,
